Italian Showdown 2022
About This Competition
Beginners, intermediate competitors and elite athletes play side by side on the same game floor… It’s much more than a competition, it’s a fest for thousands of fitness enthusiasts!
The Italian Showdown is a Licensed CrossFit® Event. The 2022 edition will take place on June 2-3-4-5 at the Rimini Expo Center along with RiminiWellness, the international trade and consumer show dedicated to fitness, sport and movement.
No qualification
All registrants participate to the first 2 days of the competition, perform 3 elimination workouts and must rank high enough to make the cut. Everyone has an equal chance of hitting the game floor and feel the energy of the arena.
All registrants compete in the same ability category (Open) and are allowed to choose between Rx and scaled workouts: those who are not able to perform a WOD as prescribed, have the chance to do the scaled version and remain in the competition ranked below the last one who performed that workout as Rx. Thanks to this rule, everybody will be able to complete all the events, prove his fitness and have fun.
Registration deadline
To guarantee everyone the same opportunity to participate, the available slots are assigned on a “first-registered, first-admitted” basis: the first 500 registrants will be directly admitted to the competition without any qualification and without any distinction of gender, age or skill level.
Registration will close as soon as all 500 available slots have been assigned. From that moment on, it will be only possible to join the waitlist, from which it will eventually be possible to be retrieved in the event that additional slots become available. In any case, registration will be permanently closed 30 days from the start of the competition.
Three stages in four days
During day-1 and day-2 the elimination stage takes place, in which all participants perform 3 workouts. The ranking at the end of the elimination phase determines which competitors move on to the semi-final stage of day-3 and which ones are eliminated.
Without any further cuts, during day-4 the final stage takes place with a longer workout. Competitors of Master divisions finish the competition with the last workout. Instead, the top-5 competitors of the Individual division must face also the final Showdown.
The Showdown
The ranking at the end of the last workout determines the top-5 competitors in the Individual division who are admitted to the Showdown, the ultimate challenge based on unknown tests. At this point, the total score accumulated in the previous workouts is reset, and the finalists face off in 4 consecutive stages with direct elimination.
The last man and the last women standing, will be the Champions of the Italian Showdown!

Hero "DT"
For time, 5 rounds of:
– 12 Deadlift, 45/70Kg
– 9 Hang Power Clean, 45/70Kg
– 6 Push Jerk, 45/70Kg

Scaled: 35/50Kg - Athletes may unload the barbell after the count of 3-2-1...GO!
Tie-breaker: time at last complete round. Minimum required work: 1 complete round.
In 6 minutes perform
3-6-9-12… reps of:
– Single-arm Devil Press, 15/22.5Kg
– Toes to Bar
Scaled: 10/15Kg, Hanging Knee Raise
Tie-breaker: time at last complete round.
Rest 3 minutes, then Event 3 will begin.
In 6 minutes perform:
– 30 Thruster, 35/50Kg
– 500m Row (tie-break time)
– Max-rep Thruster, 35/50Kg
Scaled: Front Squat
Tie-breaker: rowing time.
For time, partitioned any way:
- 45 Chest to bar
- 45 Overhead Squat, 35/50Kg
(time cap 5 minutes)
Scaled: Pull up, Back Squat
Athletes may perform the movements in any order, and the reps can be divided up in any manner. The repetitions of one movement do not have to be completed before the athlete can accumulate reps of the other movement.
For time, 21-15-9 reps of:
- Assaukt Bike (cal)
- Snatch, 35/50Kg
(time cap 9 minutes)
There is no scaled version for this workout.
In 10 minutes perform
Buy-in, for time:
- 750/1.000m Row (tie break time)
Then, for max reps:
- 5 Handstand Push-up
- 5 Clean, 55/80Kg
Scaled: Hand-release Push up, 45/60Kg - Athletes may unload the barbell after the count of 3-2-1...GO!
Tie-breaker: rowing time.
Event 7 will begin immediately after Event 6.
For time, 3 rounds of:
- 3/5 Bar Muscle up
- 10m Sandbag Walking Lunge, 40/60Kg
