The Big Bend Strength Games: February | Snatch and Deadlift
About This Competition
Starting January 1st, you'll have the opportunity to compete in the first ever TikTok strength competition!
Each month will have a new event with two lifts contested! Prizes will be given out AT RANDOM each month thanks to our sponsors, and the top 5 athletes with the most points across the year in each division will be invited to compete in the grand finale in December for a CASH PRIZE!
All video submissions MUST BE posted to TikTok AND submitted here for them to count, and must use the hashtag #bigbendstrengthgames2022 AND tag @bigbendstrength in the caption.
Finally, The February Event Is...
The Snatch 1RM and Deadlift 1RM!
Snatch: There is no rule about pressouts, bar slams, AND athletes are permitted to use straps!
There is no pressout rule, there just must be an attempt to get under the bar by rebending the knees at a minimum. split jerk, push jerk, power jerk, squat jerk are all allowed, a strict or push press is not (that may be a later event?!?)

Workouts
Event 1 Lift 2:
Deadlift 1RM
The barbell will start on the ground, and the lift must finish standing up with the hips and knees locked out. The lifter may use a conventional or sumo style lift. Lifters are permitted to use straps, and may hitch the lift. Lets see some heavy weight!
Event 2 Lift 1: Snatch1RM
Athletes will perform a 1RM Snatch to find the heaviest possible weight.
The snatch may be a power, full, split, or muscle clean. The snatch must be one smooth movement with no change of direction. This means that a hang snatch or pause snatch is not allowed. The athlete must stand and hold the eight overhead and show control before dropping the bar. Press-outs are allowed, bar slams are encouraged, and straps are permitted!
