About This Competition

Welcome to the SGV Throwdown 2023!

We want to thank you for choosing this long time fitness event! The SGV Thorowdown is one of the most popular fitness competitions in the San Gabriel Valley. Bringing you a full day of intense fun competition. Grab your favorite workout partner and sign up today!

WORKOUTS 

We will be bringing you a total of 3 workouts with 5 different scored oportunities. Teams can expect two main workouts and a floater.

Workouts will be added as they are released! 

PRIZES

1st places finishers will recieve cash prizes and title of SGV CHAMPIONS! 

  • CO-ED $1000
  • Mens RX $800
  • Mens Masters $500

All other 1st, 2nd, and 3rds place finishers will recieve sponsor based prizes!

Qualifiying Rules: We ask that you please make sure to sign up for a division that best suits you. If you are an elite athlete please refrain from signing up for our intermediate division. Stay true to the workoloads and your capabilities. If you need to change divisons or make changes in general please email us so we can approve them.

Refund and Substitutions Policy: We will not give any refunds. We will allow for subsitutions or team changes due to unforseen events. If this is the case we ask that you please notify us as soon as possible so changes can be made promptly.

Workouts

Workout will begin 3..2.1. 

-3 Sled push/ 2 for Girls

        (every divison Sled will have 4 x 45's) 

        (Sled Will be 90ft distance)

-40 Dumbbell Bench Press

  • MUST Start with elbows locked out over the chest (Bringing the dumbell from the floor to the start positions does not count as a Rep)
  • Lower the dumbbells until it touches your chest (The dumbell must make contact with your chest for the rep to count)
  • Extend your arms until your elbows are locked out (This would be the end of your first rep) 

-70/50 Calorie Ski 

  • You are able to switch whenever. Calories must be fully completed before moving on

8 Minutes to Establish 1 Rep

3 Cleans + 

2 Front Squats +

1 Jerk 

 

- You may squat or power clean

- the 3rd clean, if you choose to squat does not count for your first front squat

-Clean and squats are completed once athletes have stood up with locked out hips and knees

-The Jerk is Completed when Athlete has Shown Full control Overhead and Both Feet have Came back together

 

At the 8 MIN marker, you will have 4 min to complete The Workout JUST GO!

Workout # 1

This workout will begin at 3...2...1...go. 

  • 50 toes to bar/ knee Raises 
    • Standards will be Toes touch the bar,
    • knees above belly button line
  • 50 Shoulder to Overhead 
    • Standards will be to finish the movement with elbows, hips, and knees locked out simultaneously to finish a rep 
    • Any overhead movement will be accepted with above standard 
  • 40 Chest to bar/ Pull- Ups/ Ring rows 
    • Chest to bar chest must touch the bar
    • Pull ups, any kind as long as chest reaches over the bar 
    • Ring Rows, feet under the rings, hands touch chest 
  • 40 Overhead Lunges (barbell) 
    • Hands overhead 
    • Knee taps ground 
  • 30 Burpee Over Barbells 
    • Chest touches ground with each rep 
    • Do not need to stand all the way up 
    • partner A must complete a FULL REP before partner B can start 
  • 30 Thrusters 
    • Starts in the bottom of a front squat position 
    • Ends with full extension of Knees, Hips, and Elbows 
  • REST
    • When you finish the workout the remaianing time will be your earned rest 

At the 12 min mark you will have 4 min to complete MAX CALS on the C2 Bike 

  • Share the work as you see fit
  • Workout ends at the 16min mark
