Fayetteville's Halloween Box Mash-up
About This Competition
This is Fayetteville's first ever Halloween Box Mash-Up. It will be jointly hosted at three CrossFit gyms in the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg, NC area. There will be one WOD at CrossFit Intrinsic, one WOD at Brutal Fun, and the final WOD and awards will take place at Tarheel CrossFit. There is only space for 36 CO-ED teams. Each team will get a report time for check-ins at each location, and teams must wear a costume, as they will be judged not only on their WOD performance but their costumes (scored event #4) as well. The WODs will be doable for all fitness levels, and there is only one CO-ED (M/F) division. Registration is $100. Come out and celebrate your fitness and the CrossFit community!

Workouts
WOD1 “Death Row” (conducted at CFI)
10 Minute AMRAP
10 Calories on the rower
10 lateral burpees over the rower
One partner is working at a time, while the other partner does a dead hang from the pull-up bar. Once you finish the round you must switch. The athlete must stop working if the partner comes off the pull-up bar. The score is the total repetitions completed.
Movement standards: (Rower) Athletes must remain on the rower until the 10 calories are displayed on the monitor, and the monitor will be reset by the judges—athletes DO NOT touch the monitors.
(Burpees) Athletes must touch their chest and thighs to the ground laterally to the rower, and laterally jump or step over the back of the rower facing towards the damper.
The non-working athlete will have feet off the ground and hanging from the pull-up bar. Any grip (over/under/mix) for hanging is allowed. Gymnastics grips/gloves are allowed, but athletes cannot use straps to fix themselves to the bar unless it is an adaptive device (must be shown to the head judge prior to the event starting).
WOD2 “The Curse” (conducted at BFF)
10 wall balls
30 Calorie Echo Bike
15 wall balls
25 Calorie Echo Bike
20 wall balls
20 Calorie Echo Bike
25 wall balls
15 Calorie Echo Bike
30 wall balls
10 Calorie Echo Bike
14lb wallball to a 9” target for all.
15 Minute time cap
Only one athlete can work at a time, and athletes can split up the work any way they see fit. Athletes cannot proceed to the next movement until all reps are complete. The score is time. If athletes fail to meet the 15-minute time cap, their score will be the total reps achieved.
Movement standards:
(wallballs) ALL athletes will squat to a secondary wallball to ensure depth is reached. They may not bounce off the ball and must make contact with it each time for it to be considered a rep. The ball must make contact at or above the designated height (9-foot target) for the rep to count. Athletes may rest in-between efforts, or set the ball down, but they cannot bounce the ball off the ground to go into the next rep.
(Bike) Athletes must be on the bike for the calories to count. They may not move the handles as they are getting on/off to get extra calories. Calories will be achieved only while the athlete is on the bike.
WOD3 “Boneyard” (conducted at THCF)
10 minutes to establish a 1RM Power clean.
Athletes will share one bar (they can choose the 35lb or 45lb bar), and only one athlete can work at a time. Athletes must start with an empty bar, and can help each other load once the workout begins. Athletes must declare the weight they are attempting before beginning the attempt and can go back down in weight in the event of a failed lift. Each lane will have (1) 35lb bar or a (1) 45lb bar (athletes choice), (4) 45lb plates, (2) 35lb plates, (2) 25lb plates, (2) 15lbs plates, (2) 10lb plates, (2) 5lb plates, (2) 2.5lb plates.
Movement standards: Athletes will begin with the bar on the ground, and at “3-2-1 GO” they can begin loading. The bar must be in the “down” position before beginning the lift (the down position is the bumper plates touching the ground, unless the weight used is smaller than a bumper in which case the athlete(s) will start at the mid-shin position. The athlete must get the bar into the front rack position from the ground without stopping at the hang in one motion and show control at the top. Once the judge sees that the athlete has established control (the athlete is not stumbling around) the judge will give the down command and annotate the successful attempt. If the athlete sets the bar down before being given the down command, it will be considered a no rep. CLIPS MUST BE USED! The score is total weight.
Each gym will be responsible for entering their score for costumes.
CFI will enter the scores in event 4, BFF will enter the scores for costumes in event 5, and THCF in event 6. Scoring is 1 through 10, higher score wins.
