Event Information

12 Labours CrossFit is excited to introduce a brand new competition that highlights barbell strength. Teams of 2 (Male/Male or Female/Female) will compete in both weightlifting and powerlifting in a one day event. This is an opportunity to bridge the gap between a traditional weightlifting/powerlifting meet and a CrossFit competition. 

 

When: Saturday, July 29th

Where: 12 Labours CrossFit Annapolis

Division - Teams of 2

Male/Male or Female/Female

 


Format

Event 1 - Weightlifting Total

 


One athlete will complete a 1RM Snatch.

The other athlete will complete a 1RM Clean and Jerk.

 


Event 2- Powerlifting Total

 


One athlete will complete a 1RM Back Squat.

The other athlete will complete a 1RM Deadlift.

Leaderboard #1: Non-adjusted*

Workouts

Team Event 1 - “Weightlifting Total”


In 6 minutes, complete a 1 rep max Snatch + 1 rep max Clean and Jerk.


Flow 

At the sound of the beep both male Athletes will move onto their designated platforms. One Athlete will complete a snatch for max load and one Athlete will complete a clean and jerk for max load. Once each athlete has declared their movement, they will not be able to switch. Athletes will be allowed only 3 attempts within the 6 minute time cap. Only one athlete will be allowed to perform their designated lift at a time. Athletes will be responsible for loading their own weight. Athletes will be required to declare their weight to the judge prior to the lift. The other athlete must stay off the platform until it is time to perform the lift. The final lift must be completed by the 6 minute mark. 


Important Considerations

  • Attempts are allowed to be made in any order.
  • Athletes can choose to go up or down in weight for each attempt.
    Clips are required to be securely fastened on the barbell at all times for the lift to count.
  • The platform must be clear of all loose plates when a lift is in progress for safety purposes.

 

Scoring

The event will contain one combined score of the max load lifted between the athletes.


Score: Total of heaviest Snatch + Clean & Jerk


Movement Standards

Snatch - The Athlete will move the bar from the ground to overhead in one smooth motion. Stopping at the shoulder is not permitted. Power Snatch is allowed. The rep will be completed when the Athlete stands up to full extension with the bar overhead and both feet under hips.The athlete may not touch the platform with any part of the body other than the feet. Hang snatch is not allowed.


Clean and Jerk -  The Athlete will move the bar from the ground to the shoulder in one smooth motion.  The Athlete will then take the bar from the shoulder to overhead.  Power variations are allowed. The rep will be completed when the Athlete stands up to full extension with the bar overhead and both feet under the hips. The athlete may not touch the platform with any part of the body other than the feet. Hang clean is not allowed.

Team Event 2 - “Powerlifting Total”


In 8 minutes, complete a 1 rep Back Squat  + 1 rep max Deadlift.


Flow 

At the sound of the beep both Athletes will move onto their designated platforms. One Athlete will complete a Back Squat for max load and one Athlete will complete a Deadlift for max load. Once each athlete has declared their movement, they will not be able to switch. Athletes will be allowed only 3 attempts within the 8 minute time cap. Movement Standards

Back Squat - The barbell starts in the squat rack and the lift begins when the Athlete has removed the barbell from the rack with the barbell resting on the shoulders behind the neck. The Athlete’s hip crease must clearly pass below the top of the knee in the bottom position. The rep is credited when the Athlete’s hips and knees are fully extended at the top, the bar is resting on the shoulders, and the Athlete’s feet are in line with each other from the side profile. Athletes may receive assistance returning the bar to the rack in the event of a failed lift. 


Deadlift - This is a Conventional Deadlift. The Athlete’s hands must be outside the knees. Sumo Deadlifts are not permitted. The movement starts with the barbell on the ground. The rep is credited when the Athlete is standing tall, with hips and knees at full extension and the shoulders behind the bar. Wearing grips or lifting straps is not permitted.

Team Event 3 - “Combined Total”

Weightlifting Total + Powerlifting Total = Combined Total
