About This Competition

Announcing 2026 Konti’shátste’ Strong Women competition, in honour of Women’s Health Month! We have collaborated with CrossFit Cornwall, with support from Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario and the OMC - Onkwehonwe Midwives Collective to bring you this fun, challenging, community building event, just for women!

On Saturday, May 30th, we’ll gather at the A’nowara’ko:wa arena, on Cornwall Island, to compete in 5 different challenges that test strength, endurance and toughness! More than competing, we want everyone to have fun! Each challenge will earn you points for a combined mark. In addition to gathering points from the challenge, you’ll have a chance to earn more points from spectators! Each spectator will have a ballot that they can award to their favourite competitor after they compete! So bring your friends and family!!!

There will be 5 divisions, including a youth category (age 12-15), three adult categories based on weight (age 16-59), and an Elder category for women aged 60+!!!

We will have first, second and third place prizes in each division, as well as a door prize for one of the lucky spectators!

At the event, we’ll have an indoor, family centred rest station in the turtle room, 3TK will be a vendor on site with drinks, and Rustic Saunas and Sweats will be on site to offer sauna recovery sessions!

The event kicks off at 10am on May 30th, with sign-in taking place 30 minutes before each heat. Early bird registration is $10.00 from now until May 11th. Ticket prices go up on the 12th to $20.00 and registration closes on May 20th to allow us to organize the heats.

By May 15th, we’ll release videos of each of the strength challenges, to those signed up. Videos will include how points will be awarded and any possible penalties. If you wonder whether you can do this event or not, you can! So come out and join us. In the meantime, hit up a group fitness class and practice lifting stuff and carrying it around!

Workouts

Sandbag Kettlebell Toss

The Floater Event will test explosive power, coordination, and total-body strength. Athletes will use a sandbag kettlebell and throw it overhead for maximum distance. Using a powerful swinging motion, competitors will attempt to launch the kettlebell as far as possible behind them. Each athlete will have four total attempts to record their best throw.

Sandbag Ladder

Athletes will take on a progressively heavier sandbag ladder, testing brute strength, technique, and composure under pressure. Each athlete will have 30 seconds to successfully shoulder the assigned sandbag before advancing to the next weight. With limited time and increasing loads, athletes must move efficiently while maintaining control to earn a successful lift.

Single Arm Shoulder to Overhead

Athletes will have 1 minute to accumulate as many points as possible using one of three designated dumbbells. Competitors may use whichever dumbbell they choose throughout the event and may switch between dumbbells or arms at any time. Strategy will play a major role as athletes balance speed, fatigue, and heavier scoring options.

Sled Push for Max Distance

Athletes will have 1 minute to accumulate as much distance as possible on a 40-foot turnaround course using a weighted sled.

The sled must be pushed down the 40-foot lane to the turnaround point, and back in the opposite direction using the alternate set of handles. Athletes will continue completing lengths for the duration of the time cap.

The Beast Medley

A true test of total-body strength, grip endurance, and grit. Athletes will race through a series of classic strongwoman movements as fast as possible, moving from heavy pulls to loaded carries and finishing with a brutal sandbag bear hug carry over obstacles. Efficient movement, smart pacing, and toughness under fatigue will separate the field.
