Workouts

Barbell Deadlift

Up to three, one-rep attempts.

No ramping, hitching, or use of equipment other than a belt are allowed. Weight on successive attempts may stay the same (if the previous attempt was missed) or be raised (if the previous attempt was successful); weight may not be reduced on successive attempts.

Flexed-arm Hang

One attempt for time.

Assistance getting up to the bar is allowed. Time starts when the jawline (where the underside of the chin meets the vertical portion of the neck) is above and not touching the bar and no external support exists. Time stops as soon as the jawline falls below the height of the bar. Palms may be facing forward (away from the athlete) or backward (toward the athlete).

Kettlebell Snatch

Max repetitions within 5 minutes.

The kettlebell must be swung between the legs and then into an overhead position in one, uninterrupted movement. Repetitions that involve a "press" to finish are not counted. Use of the free hand to lift or stabilize the kettlebell or to push against the leg in an effort to assist a rep is not allowed. At the top position, the kettlebell must break the plane that rises vertically from the athlete's heels. Reps in which the kettlebell does not break that plane incur a "no-rep". The kettlebell may be set down during the attempt. Chalk may be used and re-applied at any point during the attempt. Gloves are not allowed.

Pull-up

One set for max reps.

Palms must be facing forward (away from the athlete). Elbows must be locked at the bottom of each rep. The jawline (where the underside of the chin meets the vertical portion of the neck) must be above the bar at the top for the rep to count. Absolutely no kipping is allowed during the attempt. Any use of momentum will result in an automatic "no-rep" for that repetition.
