About This Competition

CrossFit Vex 2nd Annual Battle in the Valley. This competition is unlike any other you have seen. Workouts and scores will be based on a percentage of individual and team body weight.

*Last day to register AND get a shirt and swag bag is August 31st

*Event registration deadline is midnight, September 15th. 

Layout: The competition is coed with two divisions; Rx and Scaled. Both teams must have one male and one female athlete. All athletes must be over the age of 18 on the day of the competition.

Refunds: Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds, but you are allowed to substitute competitors on the team as long as the team remains in the original division it registered for.

Workouts: There will be a total of four workouts, with one being a floater WOD. The fifth and final workout will be for the top three teams in each division. The four workouts will be released weekly. The fifth and final workout will be released once the top three teams have been identified.

Divisions:

RX Division Athletes:

Barbell movements: 70-80% of body weight for reps

Dumbbell: 80/60 single and double dumbbell movements

Bar/Ring Muscle Ups

 

Scaled Division Athletes:

Barbell movements: 50-60% of body weight for reps

Dumbbell: 50/35 single and double dumbbell movements

Chin over the bar pullups

Workouts

Workout 1.A

At the call of 3..2..1..GO,

The male partner will have 6 minutes to establish a 2RM of the following barbell complex;

Starting with an empty barbell

Power clean
Push Jerk
Front Squat
Split Jerk
Squat Clean.

- The barbell may only rest overhead or in the front rack. Athlete CANNOT stop at the hips when transitioning from the split jerk to the squat clean.

- Weight increases are in 5 lbs increments only. (2.5 on each side). Fractional plates are not allowed.

- Partners may assist in changing weight up or down as desired by the male athlete. Collars MUST be used when lifting.

- As long as the weight breaks contact with the ground, AND the complex is completed to standard the lift will count if successfully made. However, the clock for the female athlete does not stop.

Workout 1.B
IMMEDIATELY after the 6 minutes, the female partner has 5 minutes for max reps deadlift at the heaviest competed complex of their partner.

Scoring: 

This workout will have two scores.

Score 1: Heaviest completed complex of the male athlete

Score 2: Total poundage lifted by the female athlete. (Weight x reps)

Both scores will have the Wilks 2020 coefficient applied.

Partner 1: 21 thrusters

Partner 2: 21 thrusters

Partner 1: 21 Box Jump overs

Partner 2: 21 Box Jump overs

Tie-break is time is the completion time of Partner 2 completing their 21 Thrusters

Event 3 is your floater event.

Both partners will have their own barbell and choose their own weight. Once the event begins, the weight on the barbell cannot be changed.

  • 15-foot handstand walk + 10 HSPU (first HSPU must be unbroken after the HS walk)
  • 15 Toes to Bar
  • 10 alternating KB snatch 70/53

18 min time cap

 

Scaled

  • 400m run
  • 15-foot bear crawl + 5 wall walks
  • 15 Hanging knee raises (knees must be above the hip crease)
  • 10 alternating KB snatch 53/35  

18 min time cap

 

1 second will be added for any incomplete reps

100m = 1 rep on the 400m run
