About This Competition

Arizona's biggest Fitness Competition is back!! Desert City Slam Individual Competion presented by CrossFit INCITE.

Based out of the Phoenix Metro area - Bringing together our love for Community, Fitness, and Fun into an action-packed Fitness Competition.

Desert City Slam is a comprehensive test of fitness for all levels of athletes.  Any athlete from the Scaled to Games caliber will be tested appropriately for their division and fitness level.

Individuals will have their chance to test their fitness throughout the day by competing in four events. There will be Cash prizes (RX) and loaded prize packs for Podium Winners!

DEETS:

Saturday, November 5th, 2022 we will be hosting all Athlete's Divisions @ CrossFit INCITE. 

RX Division 18yrs +

- 1st Place: $2,000.00

- 2nd Place: $1,000.00

- 3rd Place: $500.00

Intermediate/Scaled Division 18yrs +

- Podium Sponsored Prize Pack

(16+ With parent or guardian consent)

 

Workouts will be released:

September 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd.

There will be no refunds for this event.

 

IMPORTANT INFO:

Movement Standards - 

RX:

To be proficient with Olympic lifts both Snatch/Clean & Jerk
Squatting: 185/125lbs
Gymnastics movements including: Pull ups, Chest to Bar, Bar Muscle Ups, Toes to Bar, Rope Climbs, and Handstand Push Ups
Dumbbells: 2x50/35lbs
Wall Balls 30/20lbs
Box Jumps 24/20in
Running, Rowing, Skiing, Biking
Sandbag cleans 150/100lbs


Intermediate:

To be proficient with Olympic lifts both Snatch and Clean & Jerk
Gymnastics movements including: Pull ups, Chest to Bar, and Toes to Bar
Squatting: 135/95lbs
Dumbbells: 2x50/35lbs
Wall Balls 20/14lbs
Box Jumps 24/20in
Running, Rowing, Skiing, Biking
Sandbag cleans 100/70lbs


Scaled:

To be proficient with the Clean & Jerk
Gymnastics movements including: Chin over bar pull ups and Hanging Knee Raises
Squatting: 115/85lbs
Dumbbells: 2x35/20lbs
Wall Balls 14/10lbs
Box Jumps 20/14in
Running, Rowing, Skiing, Biking
Sandbag cleans 100/70lbs

Athlete Check-In - All Athletes must check in between 6:30 - 7:00 am. Athlete Check-in will be in the back of the building. Followed by the National Anthem. Event 1 kicks off at 7:00 am sharp. Event briefing will be released online before the event.

ParkingLots of Parking!

- There is free parking available. Please park where you see fit in the back of the Redemption Church Gateway parking lot.

Come Prepared -

- You'll need to have an ID handy for athlete check-in.

- Please be prepared with a tent/place to chill outside, we will have the whole gym set up as a competition floor and will need all the space we can so we will need athletes to be stationed outside if they are not competing in the current heat or the heat that is up next. 

- Bring whatever you need to compete. We will have chalk buckets available but will not provide any additional pieces of personal equipment. 

No Take Backs - If you sign-up for this event please be advised that we will not be able to refund any monies collected for any reason. Hopefully, everyone can stay healthy and be ready to compete on November 5th! 

Trading Places - You can substitute an athlete up until the day of competition.

Vendors - We will have tons of great vendors and food trucks day of the competition.

500m Run

10 Bar Muscle Ups*

10 Sandbag Cleans 150/100

 

Intermediate: 15 Chest to Bar Pull Ups, 100/70 sandbags

Scaled: 15 Chin over Bar Pull ups, 100/70 sandbags

 

*Rx only: There will be a penalty if the 10 Bar Muscle Ups are not completed unbroken. Every time you come down off the Bar before completing 10 reps, you will have to run down and back the length of the floor before you can jump back up on the Bar.

 

Lifting Complex

1 Snatch + 2 Hang Snatch + 3 Overhead Squat

Each athlete will have a 10 minute window to attempt the complex a max of 3 times. Each time the barbell is lifted off the ground, that is an attempt. All 6 movements must be completed before the barbell is returned to the ground to be a complete lift.

Scaled: 

Scaled athletes will compete in a modified bear complex instead.

1 Power Clean + 1 Front Squat + 1 Shoulder to Overhead + 1 Back Squat + 1 Shoulder to Overhead

The same time limit rules apply. Scaled athletes will have a 10 minute window and a maximum of 3 attempts.

Scaled: Hanging Knee Raises, 35/20 dumbbells 

For Time (6 min Cap)

40 Wall Balls (30/20)

Intermediate: 20/14 Wall Balls, 135/95 Front Squats

Scaled: 14/10 Wall Balls, 115/85 Front Squats, Box Step Overs

Part 2 for Time (4 min Cap)

1,000 meter Row for Time

Athlete can not start the row until the clock hits 6:00. 

 

Intermediate/Scaled: 1,000/800 meter row for time

 

*This event will be the tiebreaker for the competition
