About This Competition

We are hitting the road to bring the Battle Cancer experience to gyms across the UK!

SEVEN CITIES. THREE WEEKS. ONE GOAL.

Unable to deliver our largest events with everyone together this year, we are coming to you instead. 

We will be taking over gyms in London, Cardiff, Manchester, York, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast with one challenge for a country-wide Battle Cancer UK City League.

You can join us in person, OR complete the challenge remotely in your own gym.

Teams of four:

  • All male
  • All female
  • Mixed (2 men, 2 women / 1 man, 3 women / 3 men, 1 woman)

The Workouts:

Fundraise for your chosen cancer charity, compete in two 9-minute Battle Cancer style workouts as a team of four to win epic prizes from our partners WIT and BLK BOX.

Video your workout and submit your score online. We recommend using WODProof App.

Workout 1: Fundrising AMRAP - As Much Raised As Possible. The more you raise, the higher your score! £1 = 1 rep.

Workout 2 & 3: Released 12/10/20. Two 9-minute workouts completed one straight after the other with 5-minutes rest in between, creating a 23-minute challenge.

Workouts have been designed so that athletes can maintain a 1m distance between each other at all times where needed. 

We are for everyone. No complicated movements, barbell or rig. Just hard work and sweat for those suffering more than us.

  • Loud music, high energy, community spirit
  • Limited spaces, first come first served

  • Equipment cleaned between every athlete

While we do have a leaderboard, it's the taking part that counts. Each team that enters and submits their scores and videos will be entered into a draw to have the chance to win one of two epic money-can't-buy prizes:

Prize WIT - Travel to London for your team for a money-can't-buy experience at WIT Fitness including personal shopping experience, kit drop, workout with WIT's coaches, photo shoot, AND become the faces of the new Battle Cancer x WIT campaign.

Prize BLK BOX - Travel to Belfast for your team for a money-can't-buy experience at BLK BOX including a a behind the scenes glimpse of BLK BOX’s HQ in the iconic Titanic quarter. As well as the chance to train at BLK BOX's showroom gym and tour its HQ and workshop, you will also design, engineer and fabricate their own personalised piece of kit to take home.

Workouts

9 Minute AMRAP

Score = Reps (more is better)

Equipment = 4 x plates

(1 plate for each athlete so you are not sharing equipment to be COVID compliant!)

Weights = Men 20kg, Women 10kg

 

  • Minute 1-3: Synchro Plate Squats (2 working)
  • Minute 3-4: You Go I Go Plate Ground to Overhead (2 working)
  • Minute 4-6: Synchro Burpee to Plate (2 working)
  • Minute 6-7: You Go I Go Shoulder to Overhead (2 working)
  • Minute 7-9: Synchro Plate Lunges (2 working) 

One resting athlete must hold their plate overhead for the reps to count. 

Athletes may swap out of the synchro movements and the plate hold as they wish. 

Fundraising AMRAP - As Much Raised As Possible

Score = € Euros (More is Better). 1 € = 1 Rep. Round up to the nearest whole Euro.

Your first workout isn't to do with any fitness. It starts as soon as you sign up!

​You and your team will fundraise your hardest to kickstart help for cancer charities post-COVID.

The official charities we support in the UK are Cancer Research UK, Macmillan and Movember, but you can choose any registered cancer charity to support.

You can also choose to support our vey own Battle Cancer Move Forward Program

If you're choosing a different cancer charity, you can make your donation via their website.

Score = Part A: Time MM:SS (faster is better) Part B: Reps (more is better)

Equipment: 4 x Kettlebells (1 kettlebell for each athlete where needed so you are not sharing equipment to be COVID compliant!)

Mens weight: 20kg | Womens weight: 12kg

PART A:

  • 30 Synchro Burpees & 30 Synchro KB swing (2 + 2) 
  • 10 Synchro sit ups (4 working)
  • 20 Synchro Burpees & 20 Synchro KB swing (2 + 2) 
  • 20 Synchro sit ups (4 working)
  • 10 Synchro Burpees & 10 Synchro KB swing (2 + 2) 
  • 30 Synchro sit ups (4 working)

PART B:

Max reps of synchro burpee over kettlebell in the remaining time (2 athletes working at a time).

*In the video, athletes are doing synchro burpees over their partners. You will do synchro burpees over your kettlebell instead.
