2021 Koda First Timer's Open
About This Competition
Koda is proud to host the 9th annual “1st Timer’s Open” Fitness Competition. This will be a 1-day competition with at least 4 workouts that will test athletes in a variety of movements and energy pathways.
***NO REFUNDS ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL***
The Two Goals
1) Make this the “1st Step” into competitive Fitness for local athletes. It will be open to anyone who has not previously competed in a Fitness Competition.
2) Give athletes a chance to compete against other local up-and-comers while giving valuable feedback on areas of their competitive game that need improving.
Anyone above the age of 18 is eligible to enter the 1st Timer’s Open as long as they have not competed in a CrossFit competition before.
Our definition of a Fitness competition – Entry fee was required, athletes had a judge, scores were tallied, and winners were recognized.
Examples:
-Festivus Games
-Cupid’s Revenge
-Fittest in OK
If you competed in any of the above (or competitions like those above) you are NOT eligible to compete in the 1st Timer’s Open.

Workouts
“Mr. Sandman”
16:00 CAP
250/200m Ski
21-18-15-12-9-6-3 Sandbag Squats
*Advance the bag every round
ADV: 150/100
BEG: 100/75
Athletes will start behind their Ski Erg. At the sound of “3-2-1 Go” they will step forward and begin their Ski. Once the monitor shows the full 250/200m they will move to the 1st station and complete 21 sandbag squats. The sandbag can be held in a bear hug position or on the shoulders but it CANNOT touch the legs during the squat. After all squats have been completed, athletes will move forward, dropping the bag in the next station before heading back to the Ski Erg. The workout will continue in this fashion (Ski-Squat-Move Bag Forward) until the last round where athletes will do their final 3 squats and move the bag all the way back to the 1st station.
Time will stop once the bag hits the ground, back at its original location.
The score for this workout will be the total time to complete the work or the reps completed in 16min.
“Thanos Snap”
PART 1- 6min CAP
Athletes will start under the rig. At the sound of “3-2-1 Go” they will step forward and begin their 3 rounds of 5 Devil’s Press 15 Toes Through Rings/T2B. Dumbbells MUST stay on the “lane number” so it is imperative that you DO NOT drop the DBs. Weights can be snatched overhead or athletes can get them overhead in a clean & jerk fashion. The score for part 1 will be the time it takes to finish all three rounds.
All athletes will rest 3 minutes starting at the 6 minute mark.
Part 2 begins at the 9 minute mark
PART 2- 6min CAP
Athletes will again start under the rig. At the sound of “3-2-1 Go” they will step forward and begin their 3 rounds of 5 Devil’s Press 15 Pullups. C2B for Men and Chin-Over-Bar for the Women. Again, dumbbells MUST stay on the “lane number”. The score for part 2 will be the time it takes to finish all three rounds. If you do not finish under the time cap, your score will be the total amount of reps completed.
BEGINNERS
You will do 40/25 for the Devil’s Press and your gymnastics movements will be Toes-Through-Rings for Part 1 and 15/10 Parallete-Push-ups for Part 2.
“Venom”
***No Time Cap***
Run
Sled Push
Athletes will start in front of their sled. At the sound of “3-2-1 Go”….
“Wanda Double Vision”
Athletes will start on the starting mat with their rope in hand. At the sound of “3-2-1 Go” they will step forward and begin their reps of 30 Double-Unders for ADVANCED or 20 Fat-Rope Jumps for BEGINNER. Once those reps are finished, athletes will move to the bar and complete 10 cleans at their 1st weight. Once finished they will move back to the rope to complete another set of jump ropes as well as another set of 10 cleans but now at a heavier weight. The 3rd round will be completed in the same fashion with athletes doing jump ropes and 10 cleans, with an increase in weight. On round 4, athletes will complete the same amount of Jump Ropes but the cleans will be MAX EFFORT with whatever time you have left in the AMRAP.
Your score will be the total amount of reps completed in the eight minute time frame.
Athletes will be responsible for changing their own weights and they can choose to do this before or after their next set of jump ropes.
Power, Squat, or Split Cleans will be allowed but Hang Cleans will not count.
The tiebreak is the time after the last set of JUMP-ROPES is completed.
