FLOW
Athlete 1 starts sitting on the bench with their hands behind their back. At 3, 2, 1 go the first athlete may pick their DBs up and begin the bench press. Once bench press reps are complete, they must place the DB’s on the rubber mat at the end of the bench and the athlete can move to the pool to complete their 50m swim. Athlete 2 can begin the bench press once the judge signals the swimming athlete has touched the wall at the 50m mark, they can wait with the DB either on the ground or resting on their knees until signalled by the judge. The workout will continue in this manner until the 9 minute mark.
NOTES
- There is no requirement for both athletes to swim in scaled, but they MUST complete alternating rounds of bench press
-Once an athlete starts swimming, they MUST complete the 50m.
-Any stroke is allowed
-Athletes may NOT use the lane ropes to move forward
-Each 25m is 1 rep
-DB Bench Press starts at the top, one head of each DB must touch the chest or shoulders then pressed to full extension
-Hands must be around the dumbbell handles to complete reps
-Dumbbells must be PLACED with hands still on the handles on the rubber mat at the end of the bench. If a team starts swimming with dumbbells off the mat, there will be a rep pentalty.
-INTENTIONALLY DROPPING THE DUMBBELLS OF THE MAT WILL INCUR IN A REP PENALTY
