About This Competition

THE 10TH ANNUAL APOLLO GAMES IS HERE!!  We are celebrating a Decade of Fitness and want to make this years Apollo Games the icing on the cake.  Join us for a co-ed team competition with one male and one female athlete.   October 9, 2021 at CrossFit Apollo.

There will be RX and Scaled Divisions with 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes awarded in both divisions.  The competition will take place on that Saturday with a completion time expected around 3:30 p.m.  A more precise time will be noted in the athlete emails sent a couple weeks before game day.

Unfortunately, we have to limit the number of teams participating so don’t dilly dally.  If your team is on the bubble regarding RX or Scaled we would encourage you to challenge yourself in the RX division.  Come and have a great experience competing in an exciting and supportive environment.  

Choose which division you would like to compete in based on the criteria below.

RX teams must be able to perform multiple reps with the following movements and weights listed:

  • Snatch 115lbs for Reps (Men Only)
  • Thruster 115lbs for Reps (Men Only)
  • Clean 115lbs for Reps (Women Only)
  • Front Squat 115lbs for Reps (Women Only)
  • Rope Climbs
  • Bar Muscle-ups (Recommended)
  • Double Unders
  • Wall Climbs
  • Run
  • L-Sit

Scaled teams must be able to perform multiple reps with the following movements and weights listed:

  • Snatch 85lbs for Reps (Men Only)
  • Thruster 85lbs for Reps (Men Only)
  • Clean 85lbs for Reps (Women Only)
  • Front Squat 85lbs for Reps (Women Only)
  • Rope Climbs (Recommended)
  • Pull-ups (Recommended)
  • Single Unders
  • Wall Climbs
  • Run
  • Leg Lift (Lying on your back with your legs straight and heels lifted 6” off the floor)

Please park at the YMCA or in the parking lot across the street. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. We are not issuing refunds this year.***  Partner substitutions have to be made at least 3 days before the event. If you are substituting a partner please keep in mind that t-shirt sizes cannot be changed.  Teams can switch divisions provided that it is at least 10 days before the event day.

Workouts

5 Rounds:

·        10 Thrusters (M) / Front Squats (W)

·        10 Power Snatch (M) / Power Cleans (W)

·        10 Synchronized Lateral Bar Over Burpees

·        5 Bar Muscle-ups

 

Ø  Score = Time -or- Reps Completed at Cut-off

Ø  12 Minute Cut-off

 

Ø  RX Division

o   115lb with Men’s Barbell

 

Ø  Scaled Division

o   85lb with Women’s Barbell

o   10 Pull-ups instead of Bar Muscle-ups

 

Ø  Workout Notes

o   Teams will split all the reps however they like with one athlete working at a time with the exception of burpees.

o   Men and women will share a barbell but perform different exercises, depending on where they are in the workout. The first 10 reps will be shared but men will do thrusters and women will do front squats. The next 10 reps will be shared but the men will do power snatch and women will do power clean.

o   Both athletes will complete all 10 burpees together. Teammates must meet at the bottom of the burpee and have their chests touching the floor at the same time before standing up. Athletes must jump over the bar with both feet leaving the floor at the same time. The only synchronized portion of this exercise is the down position of the burpee with the chest on the floor.

Athletes will receive a 1 minute break after the 12 minute cut-off of the Deca event. Then they will perform a 2 minute AMRAP of synchronized lateral bar over burpees. This is a separately scored event. Score = Total Reps

2 Rounds:

·        100 Double Unders + L-Sit

·        10 Rope Climbs

Ø  Score = Time -OR- Reps Completed Before Cut-off

Ø  10 Minute Cut-off

 

Ø  RX Division

o   L-Sit

§  Athletes will press hands on two sets of 2, 45lb plates on both sides of the hips. The knees can bend but the heels cannot touch the floor or come behind the front of the 45lb plates.

 

Ø  Scaled Division

o   30 Box Jumps w/ 20” Box

o   5 Rope Climbs

o   L-Sit

§  Athletes will press hands on two sets of 3, 45lb plates on both sides of the hips. The knees can bend but the heels cannot touch the floor or come behind the front of the 45lb plates.

 

Ø  Workout Details

o   The top 6 teams in each division are the only ones who will qualify to do this event. 

o   Double Unders/Box Jumps will be split between teammates however they like. However, one athlete must be holding an L-sit for any jump rope reps to count.

o   We will only have 3 bikes available for the 6 teams which will be first come first served. Which means the first 3 teams to finish the 2 round buy in of rope climbs and jump rope/box jump will advance to the bike. The other teams will earn a 4th, 5th or 6th place ranking based on their completion time of the 2 round buy in.

10 Minute Clock:

·        4, 100 Meter Alternating Sprints

·        400 Meter Run

·        1 Rep Max Clean + Hang Clean

 

Ø  1st Score = Time of Fastest Athlete After Returning from the Run

Ø  2nd Score = Time of 2nd Athlete After Returning from the Run

Ø  3rd Score = Combined Total of Each Athletes Best Complex

Ø  Workout Notes

o   At the call of “3-2-1 Go”, teams will complete 4, 100-meter runs split between the two athletes. Teammates will switch after each 100-meter distance. This means each athlete will run a total of 2, 100-meter sprints.

o   Immediately, teams will begin a 400-meter run with both athletes running the full distance at the same time.

o   Only once both athletes have returned from the run, can attempts at the complex begin.

o   The complex must be unbroken with the barbell not touching the floor once the set has begun.

o   The hang can be performed from any position (above or below the knee) as long as it doesn’t touch the floor.

o   Only 1 athlete may lift at a time.

o   Take as many attempts as you’d like.

o  Barbells will be empty when the workout starts and cannot be loaded until after the first athlete returns from the run.

o   Teams will have both a male and female bar and will have plenty of weight to choose from.

10 Minute Clock:
