About This Competition
Outland Games 2023
Come out and enjoy our 4th Mixed Partner CrossFit competition at the Sunflower Festival in our hometown Altona, Manitoba!
Being the only complete outdoor competition, athletes can expect workouts that will include many of the well known CrossFit movements, but will also include a few movements to challenge that strength. We will NOT be testing high level gymnastic movements or heavy snatch. However, athletes should bring all of their usual gear, including a swimsuit!
Mixed teams will test their fitness across broad time and modal domains with each team guaranteed 4 events (and a final). All WODs are partner workouts where athletes can divide up the work any way they want.
RX (You Firebreather You)
You fit into this division if you are a strong athlete who can work with the following:
-70lbs/50lbs DB/ KB
-155lbs/105lbs Overhead Press
-315lbs/185lbs Deadlift
-205lbs/155lbs Clean and Jerk
-24”/20” Box Jumps
-Double unders
-20lbs/14lbs wallballs
-Swimming (one partner)
Strongman standards: Come ready to test your limits!!
Intermediate (umm....can we say Rockstar?)
You fit into this division if you are rocking most workouts RX and can work with the following:
-50lbs/35lbs DB/ KB
-135lbs/95lbs Overhead Press
-225lbs/155lbs Deadlift
-155lbs/125lbs Clean and Jerk
-24”/20” Box Jumps
-Double unders
-20lbs/14lbs wallballs
-Swimming (one partner)
Strongman standards: Come ready to test your limits!!
(If the only thing stopping you from intermediate is double unders, we recommend intermediate 😉)
Scaled (Like a baby dragon transforming into a beast)
You fit into this division if you are newer to CrossFit and still learning the ropes. You should be able to work with the following:
-35lbs/25lbs DB/ KB
-115lbs/75lbs Overhead Press
-185lbs/125lbs Deadlift
-115lbs/85lbs Clean and Jerk
-20” Box Jumps or Steps
-Single unders
-20lbs/14lbs wallballs
-Swimming (one partner)

For time:
Run 1 lap around the pond together (approximately 500m)
sandbag over shoulder (Scaled 18reps /Int & RX 24reps) (Scaled& Int-100lbs/70lbs)(RX- 150lbs/100lbs)
Run 1 lap around the pond together
sandbag squats (Scaled 34reps/Int & RX 40reps)
Run 1 lap around the pond together
Synchro burpees (Scaled 20/Int 30/ RX 40)

Teams will start that the top of the hill in their assigned station
On 3 2 1 go…. both partners will proceed to run down the hill, around the pond, over the bridge and back up the hill to their assigned station.
Once both partners have arrived back at their station, they will proceed to complete the prescribed reps of sandbag over the shoulder. They can be broken up in any way.
Once all sandbag over-shoulder reps have been completed both partners will proceed to complete another run around the pond.
Once both partners are back at their stations, they will proceed to complete the prescribed reps of sandbag squats in a bear hug position. Can split up the reps in any way.
Once reps are completed, both partners will proceed to complete another run around the pond.
Once both partners have arrived back at their station, they will perform synchronized burpees
Synchro is both partners' chests are on the ground at the same time.
Once the burpees are completed, you have successfully completed event 4!
Time cap: 15 minutes
*Run is approximately 500m
Each team will be given 30 seconds at each bar w/ :30 transition time between bars.
6 partner deadlifts at 300lbs

3 2 1 go…. partners will proceed to the first bar and have 30 seconds to lift bar 1 for 6 reps.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 2 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to lift bar 2 for 5 reps.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 3 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to lift bar 3 for 4 reps.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 4 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to lift bar 4 for 3 reps.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 5 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to lift bar 5 for 2 reps.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 6 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to lift bar 5 for 1 rep.
After will be given a 30-second rest/transition to bar number 7 where athletes together will have 30 seconds to complete as many reps as possible at bar number 7.
If at any time you are unable to complete all prescribed reps at the bar, you will not proceed to the next bar.
*Any grip is acceptable, no straps are allowed.
**One side of each bar will be 45 lbs heavier- choose who you want on that side.
***All bars will be loaded with the same weight for ALL divisions.
For Time:
Partner A Swim there & back + Muscle ups off the pool ledge(Scaled-3)(Int-5)(RX-7)
Partner B Non-swimmer cals on rower (Scaled-15cals) (Int-20cals) (RX-25cals)
Then 3 rounds of:
14 single arm DB Snatches (Scaled-35/25) (Int-50/35) (RX-70/50)
20 Wall balls over 6ft fence (Scaled 14) (Int/RX 20)
Partner A Swim there & back + Muscle ups off the pool ledge(Scaled-3)(Int-5)(RX-7)
Partner B Non-swimmer cals on rower (Scaled-15cals) (Int-20cals) (RX-25cals)
Then 3 rounds:
14 single arm DB hang clean & jerk (Scaled-35/25) (Int-50/35) (RX-70/50)
20 Wall balls over 6ft fence (Scaled 14) (Int/RX 20)

3 2 1 go Partner A will swim there and back while Partner B hops on the rower to complete prescribed cals.
When partner A gets back they will complete the prescribed muscle ups off the edge of the pool. (Scaled-3) (Int-5) (RX-7)
(If you choose to alternate between swimming & rowing, there will just be a distance to run to switch sides of the fence.)
Once both partners have completed the row/swim they will proceed to perform 3 rounds of 14 DB snatches and 20 partner wall balls over the fence.
- The DB snatches can be split up however you’d like and don’t have to be alternating.
- The Wallballs will be performed by each partner throwing it over the 6ft fence to the other partner.
Once the 3 rounds are completed partner A will jump back into the pool- swim there & back + complete prescribed muscle ups, while partner B gets back on the rower to perform prescribed cals.
Once both partners have completed the swim/row they will proceed to complete 3 rounds of 14 DB single-arm hang clean & jerks and 20 partner wall balls over the 6ft fence.
- The DB clean & jerks can be split up however you’d like and don’t have to be alternating.
- The Wall balls will be performed by each partner throwing it over the 6ft fence to the other partner.
Once the last round of wall balls is completed, have successfully completed Event 1!
