1. TOUGH’N’ROUGH

  • TnR is a completely independently organized event and has nothing to do with CrossFit HQ.
  • TnR is a team competition (team of two) consisting of one woman and one man.

2. GENERAL RULES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • By participating in the TnR-event, the team agrees to all rules and policies pursued by the organization of TnR. The team accepts all the risks associated or that could reasonably be associated with a sport event.
  • The team accepts that these decisions are final and binding in all respects. To clarify the rules that apply before, during and after TnR, the rulebook is established and is compulsory for every team, participating in the event.
  • All times, deadlines etc. mentioned in our communications are in Central European (Summer) Time.
  • Under no circumstances will TnR be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including injuries. All teams compete at their own risk.
  • TnR has the right to exclude teams from the qualifier or finals without giving any reason. TnR also has the right to validate scores or declare them invalid.

3. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

  • If a team signs up in a division that is under their current abilities, the organization can reject the team from the competition.
  • If an athlete has already competed at the CrossFit Games or in an official CrossFit Games regional event or semifinal, they may enter TnR in the Elite division only.
  • Athletes under 18 must have explicit permission from their parents or guardians.
  • All teams must compete in the qualifier to advance to the finals.
  • Teams that want to participate in the finals must have done the qualifier in the same composition.
  • Between the qualifier and the finals, the team composition may not be adjusted for any reason.
  • All teams must register online at competition corner. Upon registration, the team agrees to all policies, rules and regulations, including processing of personal data.
  • Registration of a team is only valid if the registration fee is paid in full before the deadline.
  • The registration fees are published on competition corner.

4. TEAM COMPOSITION AND CATEGORIES

  • The team consists of 1 female and 1 male.
  • Teams can participate in the following divisions:
    - Elite
    - RX
    - Intermediate
    - Scaled

  • The best teams of each division will advance to the finals.
  • It is the right of TnR to define the number of teams per category that will enter the finals.
  • After September 20, 2023, TnR reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to fill empty slots.
  • If a team wants to change the category, the team must contact TnR by email info@toughandrough.ch no later than 72 hours after publication of the qualifier workouts.

5. REGISTRATION DETAILS

  • Participation in the event is subject to payment of the registration fee. All payments are final. No refunds or transfers will be permitted, regardless of reason.
  • Registration fees do not include costs from competition corner or currency conversion fees.
  • Registration fees do not include the shirt and the team name panel. Both are a gift by TnR to the teams that participate in person in the finals.
  • Teams must register for the qualifier and the finals separately and pay the entry fees.
  • Tickets for the event are available only at competition corner. If competition corner does not support your currency or payment method, please contact us via info@toughandrough.ch

6. MOVEMENT STANDARDS

  • The rules relating to the movements for the qualifier and finals are prescribed by TnR. These prescriptions are binding and conclusive.
  • TnR will demonstrate the required movements and explain these to all teams via the TnR website and competition corner.
  • If an athlete has a disability and therefore cannot perform or continue with a standard movement as prescribed by TnR, the movement does not count as a repetition in the workout (and will be considered as a “no rep”).
  • Physical limitations in range of motion from prior physical defects or temporary or permanent injuries that are obvious and clearly definable by demonstration and are brought to the attention of the TnR Head judge prior to the beginning of the competition may be granted an exception at TnR sole discretion. (Athletes competing in the qualifier must email to info@toughandrough.ch 24 hours before the registration deadline). These cases are very rare and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

  • Teams on the top of the leaderboard will receive an invitation for the finals.
  • In case of a tie, the team with the lowest ranking on any of the qualifier workouts will be invited.
  • If a Team declines their invite or does not accept the invite within the deadline, the invite is cancelled. TnR will invite the next team from the qualifier ranking in that division.

9. THE FINALS

  • The final will take place on September 30th and October 1st, 2023.
  • It is a two-day event, for all teams and categories.
  • The venue for the finals is the Athletik Zentrum in
St. Gallen. Certain events may also take place elsewhere.
  • The scores at the finals will be registered by TnR Judges. The Judges will determine the workout results but are entitled to change a result after irregularities.
  • Photo or video material made by spectators or other participants does not have to be taken into account in case of a dispute and may be neglected by the judges.
  • In case of a dispute, the judge is always right unless the head judge decides otherwise.
  • TnR assumes no liability for lost clothing or other belongings of athletes. This also applies to personal possessions which have been left in TnR changing facilities.
  • The team must follow the instructions given by TnR Organization, or TnR staff in TnR uniform, or otherwise apparently belonging to TnR Organization.
  • TnR has the right to disqualify a team or athlete and/or pull him or her out of TnR if the Team does not abide by the rules, or behaves in an unsportsmanlike or improper manner, or if it is considered necessary due to medical reasons.
