FitCon Classic 2019

WHAT IS THIS GLORIOUS THING ON APRIL 12-13?

I’m glad you asked! Its kind of like the biggest fan, the largest fitness festival in the region, some Game Athletes, and you had a love child…this would be the result! I love this sport. I love this community. And I love creating experiences worth remembering.  I wanted to create an event where Game athletes cheer you on. They love their fans and this event is their way of saying thank you. This year Game athletes will be helping with programming, training, and motivation. THEY ARE HERE FOR YOU! There will be a meet and greet, photo opportunities, personal training, and the opportunity to workout like they do. Oh wait there’s more! We have some serious sponsors. REEBOK BABY! FNX, BRUTE STRENGTH, MOXIE and other local organizations are jumping in to build the experience! With all the changes happening in this world I thought it would be nice just to kick it old school. Good people getting together to celebrate fitness and eat food. Oh yeah there is a comp designed by Game athletes too. HA. I hope you come join my friends and me as we put on an event designed for you. Hope to see you there!

My personal goal is to have 100 teams sign up. Why?! Back in the day that’s close to the number of people that attended the first Games and 100 teams sounds cool. Am I Right?!

Welcome to the Brute Strength Experience! Get ready to learn from the top coaches and athletes in the world! All attendees will have the opportunity to learn from Matt Bruce, Derrick Stoltz, Adrian Conway, and Brooke Ence as they provide instruction on Olympic lifting, gymnastic movements, and mindset motivation. In two hours you will take your performance to the next level as you work alongside this world-class team. People are asking if this is a sit down seminar. No! This is a get your hands on equipment experience with personalized instruction by world -class coaches. There are limited spots open so make sure to get signed up today!

THE CLASSIC!

On Saturday April 13 you will throw down in the most epic/insanely fun competition of the year. Grab your partners this is a 3 same gender team competition. Male and Female Divisions. Elite, RX, and Scaled teams are invited to throw down on the big stage! This year I wanted to have the programing bring the cheers and excitement that the Games bring. So, I am happy to announce all of the programming has been designed, tested, and approved by some of our favorite Game Athletes and celebrities. Josh Bridges is planning and announcing WOD 1 so stay tuned. Dave Lipson, the Buttery Bros, Tommy Marquez and Adrian Conway are throwing their spice into the pan as well. Get ready to taste the goodness!  This is created for the Elite all the way to first time competitors. Its about you showcasing your hard work. Honestly I would love to see a lot of scaled teams signed up for this. Not only will you be coached by the best but as a first time competition you will be surrounded by great people to support you and cheer you on. I remember my first comp and I have to say it was the community around me that pushed me to new limits. I am grateful for them and I know this event will be full of people cheering you on as well. Jump in the fun. Its something you will always remember.

BREAKDOWN OF DIVISIONS:

Elite:

Elite athletes will be treated like Game athletes. All movements, weights, and tests of fitness are fair game. If you want to see how it feels to perform like the best this is your division.

-      All movements’ are fair game. Muscle ups, squat snatches/cleans, double-unders, etc are all part of the proving ground.

RX

This will be the perfect middle ground. For those that are breaking out of the scaled division and want to be tested a little more, this is our division. This will be very similar to the elite division but lighter weight. All movements are fair game in this division as well but again the weight will not be as heavy as elite.

Scaled

I’m most excited for this division.  This is an incredible opportunity to jump into the competition world. Consider this your sweet 16 of competitions. Its fun.! Its doable! Check out the movements below and think to your self, “Oh yeah I can do that!” I want as many scaled teams signed up as Elite/RX. I want this to be the best first competition for all!

These movements may be in your programming. (But are not limited to)
-      Single Unders
-      Body Weight Movements
-      Lite Barbell Work
-      Cleans no heavier than 135#
-      Gymnastic movements will have possible pull ups. Don’t worry if you can’t do one you are on a team of 3! Work together and have fun!

Once parter A’s handstand walk is done Partner B begins.

Partner B:

30’ Handstand Walk

Once parter B’s handstand walk is done Partner C begins. At this time Partner A and B can start working on the 30 synchronized bar muscle ups.

Partner C:
30/20 Cals on Assault bike
30’ Handstand Walk

Once Partner C has completed the handstand walk all 3 partners will complete 30 synchronized bar muscle ups. Only two partners working on synchronized bar muscle ups at a time.

At the start of 3,2,1,Go partner 1 will perform as many DU as possible while partners 2&3 stand behind the rig. If partner 1 decides to break they must run and tag another partner. That partner will continue where partner 1 left off. Partners can switch as many times as they want but only one partner can perform at a time out on the floor.

Once the double unders are complete all three partners can move to the rope to start their 20 rope climbs. Partners must tag for this movement as well. Again this does not need to be even work.

From the rope climbs partners will move to the barbell that will be set with their division’s weight. Athletes will stand behind the bar as they advance the bar forward every 10 reps. Partners can tag in and out of this movement as well at any rep.

Once all athletes on the team cross the line the judge will record the time.

Teams will have 5 minutes to establish max calories on a rower. Athletes can switch at anytime during the 5 minutes. (Score is total calories)

Part 2: At the 5 minute mark teams will have 10 minutes to establish a max deadlift. Each member is allowed 3 attempts within the 10 minutes but do not have to use all 3 attempts to reach their max. (Score is total combined weight lifted)
