About This Competition

The Butterfly Effect

A movement that celebrates what our bodies can do — not how they look.

Step into The Butterfly Effect — the world’s largest celebration of female strength and movement.

We’re a community of women united by sweat, spirit, and support — lifting each other up, both on and off the floor. This is where confidence grows, friendships form, and self-belief takes flight.

The Format

The Butterfly Effect is an all-female functional fitness competition for teams of 3, with divisions for Hybrid, Elevate, Masters, Intermediate, and Advanced athletes.

Across the day, teams will take on four workouts designed to challenge, empower, and showcase what you’re capable of.

Workouts are released months in advance, giving you time to train, prepare, and build excitement. You don’t need to be a “CrossFitter” to compete — just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to give it your all.

The Hybrid Division includes accessible movements and excludes complex lifts or advanced gymnastics, so everyone can participate confidently.

Divisions

  • RX / Advanced – for experienced athletes ready to push their limits
  • Intermediate – for solid all-rounders with consistent training experience
  • Masters 35+ - for 35 and over
  • Elevate - for athletes ready to take the next step from beginner
  • Hybrid – for first-timers or those still building their strength and confidence

Day 1 (Saturday): Hybrid & Elevate Divisions

Day 2 (Sunday): Intermediate, Masters 35+, and Advanced

Full movement standards are listed under “Athlete Info”.

Due to the two-day format, division changes will remain open until that division is sold out, depending on whether you’re competing on Day 1 or Day 2.

All athletes from all gyms and backgrounds are welcome — this is your space to belong.

First-Time Competitors

New here? Perfect.

Most of our athletes are first-timers too!

Our workouts are team-based, designed to highlight your strengths while having fun along the way. You’ll leave with sore cheeks from smiling, not just from working hard.

The Butterfly Effect isn’t just a competition — it’s a celebration of every woman who shows up, tries something new, and surprises herself.

Workouts & Schedule

Workouts drop no later than March.

Each event typically runs 7:00am – 3:30pm, depending on location.

Exact schedules and heat times will be released a few weeks prior under “Athlete Info.”
