About This Competition

CrossFit Spokane Valley’s annual fall competition, The Hungers Games, has been on a pause due to Covid for the past few years. This is a community-oriented competition that we have done for 10+ years to bring the fitness community together and show off your fitness. This also functions as a community food donation drive. This year we will be donating to Valley Assembly Community Food Pantry. Pastor Cameron McDaniel serves anyone in the community in need of food every Wednesday from 4-6pm. Food boxes are packed and given out with non-perishable items as well as refrigerated/frozen items. Each box is made to accommodate the size of each household. The food pantry serves approximately 400 individuals every month. We are so honored to be part of their great serves they provide.

This year’s competition will be a little different then in the past. It will only be one day, Saturday October 30th. The event will start at 9:00am and aim to finish at 4:00pm (if it runs as smooth as we plan to finish around 2:00-3:00pm). This will be our first competition since Covid, so we are looking to have a fun and exciting time with everyone in the community. All workouts will be posted by Friday, September 24th, one week before the sign-up deadline of October 1st.

The entire event will be at Crossfit Spokane Valley. The doors will be open to let fresh air in so please dress appropriately. We will have two divisions, Rx and Novice. Here are standards for the division:

RX) Double Unders, Snatch and Clean 135/95lbs, Pull-ups and Wallballs 20/14lbs,

Novice) Single Unders, Snatch and Clean 95/65lbs, Jumping Pullups and Wallballs 14/10lbslbs

Spector entrance fee will be ten cans of food, all will be donated to Valley Assembly Community Food Pantry. Competitors will be asked to bring five cans of food as well. Listed below are items that Valley Assembly Community Food Pantry will accept

-Canned and boxed meals (soup, chili, stew, macaroni and cheese)

-Ready to eat products that do not require refrigeration (like nuts, jerky & other healthy snacks) for homeless bags

-Peanut butter and other nut butters

-Canned or dried beans and peas (black, pinto, lentils)

-Pasta, rice, cereal

-Canned and fresh fruits and vegetables

-100% fruit or vegetable juice (canned, plastic or boxed)

Workouts

Rx Division

40-20-10

Partner Wallballs 20lbs ball to 9' target

Pull-ups (partner hangs)

Ground-to-overhead (partner holds barbell in deadlift) 95/65lbs barbell

Time Cap = 15 minutes

Novice Division

40-20-10

Partner Wallballs 14lbs ball to 9' target

Jumping Pull-ups (partner holds barbell in front rack position)

Ground-to-overhead (partner holds barbell in deadlift) 75/55lbs barbell

Time Cap = 15 minutes

The reps are all cumulative. For the wallballs, you will pass the ball back and forth with each rep counting when the ball touches the target. For the pull-ups and ground-to-overhead, the partner must be hanging (barbell front rack for novice) or holding the bar in a deadlift position for the respective reps to count. Each remaining rep after the time cap will count as one second towards total time.

Rx Division

200 Double Unders

30 Weighted Box Step Overs 45/35lbs plate, 24"/20" box

30 Burpees to Plate

100 Calorie Row

30 Weighted Box Step Overs

30 Burpees to Plate

200 Double Unders

Time Cap = 26 minutes

*One partner is always on the Echo Bike accumulating calories

Novice Division

400 Single Unders

30 Weighted Box Step Overs 35/25lbs plate, 24"/20" box

30 Burpees to Plate

100 Calorie Row

30 Weighted Box Step Overs

30 Burpees to Plate

400 Single Unders

Time Cap = 26 minutes

*One partner is always on the Echo Bike accumulating calories

While one partner is chipping through the reps, the other partner is accumulating calories on the Echo bike. Partners can switch whenever you would like. At the completion of the workout, or time cap, total calories will be subtracted from the finishing time e.g. 25:00 completion - 100 calories = 23:20. If time capped, each remaining rep will count as one added second e.g. 20 reps reamining = 26:20.

Rx Division

Women: 55lbs, 65lbs, 75lbs, 85lbs, 95lbs, 100lbs, 105lbs, 110lbs

Teams will have :20 at each bar to complete one Thruster.

Thruster must come from the ground and can be a cluster, squat clean thruster, or a power clean and thruster.

No Push Jerks are allowed must finish the squat in one motion to the push press.

Teams will move up the ladder next to their partner, until they reach a weight they cannot complete a thruster at. If they fail on the thruster they can start performing as many front squats as they can for a tie breaker score in the remaining time of the :20 window.

Score is heaviest combined weight lifted as a team.
