About This Competition
Hello competitors and spectators alike. On May 6th, 2023, Maverick Strength will be hosting the Kootenay Klash 2.0 Fitness Competition.
Divisions: There will be three divisions. Ages 18+.
1. Scaled: For those who've been training consistently for 6-12 months and have no experience with competition.
2. Intermediate: For the athlete who's been partaking in functional fitness/crossfit style training for up to 2 years and is looking to test their fitness or have little to no competitive experience. They should be able to show above average fitness competency.
3. RX: For the athletes that have competed in the past. These participants should be competent in most crossfit related movements such as gymnastics, olympic weightlifting and power lifting. The loads and intensity will be greater for this category than the others.
Each division will be capped at 8 teams of 2 people. These teams can be coed, or same sex. Prizes will be given to the top 3 teams of each division based on a portion of registration sales.

The focus of this competition is to build a connection between local gyms here in the Kootenays, while enjoying a fun filled day of competitive fitness for competitors and spectators alike.
Athlete check in begins at 7am while our first event will start at 8am. We will aim to finish 4pm but is subject to change. This will be a dry event, so we ask that you don't bring alcohol.
Pricing and Refund Policy
Registration will be $150+tax per team.
There will be no refunds given.
Entry for spectators will be FREE.

Workouts
In Pairs complete the following as desired (does not need to be 50/50 but both athletes must complete the run together)
1 Round
Row for 100/80 Cals
- Bike for 100/80 cals
- Run 800m (must hold rope while running as a team)
* clock stops when athletes return to their bike after finishing the run.
Complete the following in under 10 minutes
2-4-6-8-10 rep rounds of Barbell Thrusters
- 10/8 cals after every round of thrusters
- both athletes must complete the prescribed reps and must switch after every completed rd of thrusters and bike
@135/95(RX)- @115/85(Int)- @95/65(Sc)
Complete As many reps of possible of sandbag ground to over the shoulder in a 3 minute window.
This event is scored the following way
Men:
- 150lbs is worth 3 points
- 100lbs is worth 1 point
Women:
- 100lbs is worth 3 points
- 70lbs is worth 1 point
Score is total points accumulated between both partners.
One team will complete the workout at a time.
- this is a floater workout and be completed at any time during the competition.
- athletes must choose one bag and stick with it for the entire 3 minute workout.
Run a 400m Buy in as a team then complete the following
4 Rounds for time (2 each person, alternating rounds)
- 40 Double unders (80 Singles Sc)
- Barbell Shoulder to Overhead x15
- Barbell Overhead Squat x10 (Can be scaled to front squat with 2 minute penalty)
- Toes to bar x10 (both feet must touch the bar)
*Barbell Load:
Rx: 115/85
Int: 95/65
Sc: 75/55
* Partner A must finish a full round before partner B can start theirs. There are two rounds per partner.
*15 minute Time Cap
Athletes will complete a Max Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift in 15 minutes. It's advisable for each athlete to finish each lift within 5 minutes. There will be a designated warmup area so that athletes may prepare before their event starts.
Standards:
Bench Press: Hips must remain on Bench. Bar must touch chest and elbows must lockout before spotter touches the weight
Deadlift: Knees, ankles and hips must totally lock out at the top of the movement. Athlete must demonstrate a 1 second pause at the top postion to establish control
Squat: Full extension of the hip, ankle and knee is required for a good lift. Depth of hip crease below knee must be established.
Athletes must complete all 3 lifts within 15 minutes
Womens scores are recorded as 1.5x their total weight achieved.
