Only one partner is working at a time. With the exception of the 30 reps each partner must complete, all reps may be split however the team chooses. Partners will begin the workout facing away from the jump rope on the floor. Partners may share a jump rope, or if using separate ropes, partners may keep their jump rope in their hands. The hang squat cleans will start from a locked out position at the top of the deadlift, and involve an initial re-dip. Subsequent reps may go down as far as the knee or stay from the high hang position by the hip. In RX and Scaled divisions, a squat below parallel must be achieved at each rep. In Foundations, athletes are encouraged to catch the bar in the squat or the lowest power position possible. On the DU/Single under, Partner 1 must complete all 30 reps before Partner 2 may begin theirs.

HSPU will follow the CrossFit Open standards with a 30” line 10” away from the way that the hands must touch in some capacity. Mats will be provided. Reps will start with arms locked out, hips off the wall. At the bottom the top of the hear must make contact with the mat. The hips may touch the wall here. The athlete may kip. The rep will be complete when the arms are locked out, hips are off the wall, and the feet are both in contact with the wall.
The hand release push ups will start in the high plank position. The chest will be lowered to the ground, and the hands will visibly lift off the ground before pressing back up to high plank position, arms straight. Keeping the legs locked out is recommended, as push ups that “worm” will result in no-reps.
The DB push press will start with the DB in the front rack position. The heads of the DB will touch the shoulder at the bottom, and the arms will lockout overhead at the top.

The weight plates to be added for the DL will be provided in the athlete box. It is up to each team to decide how and when they choose to add and subtract the plates from the bar between the movements. Each DL will begin with the plates on the floor and will end with the athlete fully extended upright with the shoulders behind the bar.

Each power clean will begin with the plates touching the floor. The rep will be complete when the torso is upright, hips are fully extended, and the barbell is in the front rack position, with the elbows forward of the bar. The workout ends with the last of the 90 DU have been completed.

Event 2: Sunny Side Up

Score 1: Establish 3 Rep Max Bench Press (Both Partners Weights Combined)

Score 2: Each partner will perform one max set of unbroken reps at the following weights: (One score whether both partners complete this or not)

- M/F RX: 185/125; Scaled: 95/65; Foundations: 75/45

You may place plates under the feet; feet must remain on the floor or the plates. Tape will be on the bar will establish a 40-inch boundary. The hands may not go past the outer edge of the tape in any way. Barbell will begin in the locked out position over the chest. Assistance with lift off the rack, as well as returning to the rack will be provided if requested. Clear, visible contact with the athlete’s body at the bottom of the rep will be required before returning to the lock out position. The shoulders and hips must remain in contact with the bench at all time during the set. Feet may not be up on the bench. The bar must lock out on the last rep before the bar is placed back on the rack for the set to count.

The Max Weight for both athletes must be established BEFORE the max reps. Partners are not expected to spot each other; volunteers will be provided. Any failed/assisted reps will not count. No reps will count after the time ends, even if the athlete is holding the bar before the timer stops. EVENT SAFETY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO US THAN YOUR EGO. JUDGES WILL USE THEIR DISCRETION ON WHEN TO SPOT A LIFT THAT APPEARS TO BE FAILING.  We will do our absolute best to ensure an athlete is given the chance to finish a rep, but we will not entertain any complaints that spotters interfered during a set or rep that an athlete “believes” they could have finished.

This is strength and strategy, athletes may use their 8:00 how they see fit.

With a 5:00 Time cap, each partner will complete:

Bike calories: RX 15/15; Scaled: 12/10; Foundations: 10/7

Then:

50’ SB Carry to Box

SB + Box Get Over

100’ SB Carry (50 down, 50 back)

SB + Box Get Over

50’ SB Carry across line + TAG PARTNER 2

Both partners need to complete 1 full round within the time cap.  The time that Partner 1 tags Partner 2 will be recorded as a tie-break for teams that do not complete both rounds before the time cap.

SB weights and Box Heights:

RX 150/100, 48/40”

Scaled: 100/50, 40/30”

Foundations: 50/30 30/24”

Both athletes start behind the bike. Partner 1 must perform the bike calories, then pick up the sandbag and carry it to the boxes. Any carry style is allowed. Partner 1 will then carry or push the sandbag over the boxes before climbing over the box themself, and carry the sandbag to a designated turn around point, about 50 feet beyond the box. They will then turn around, return to the box, get the sandbag over the box a second time and follow the sandbag over the box. They will carry the sandbag past the starting point and tag Partner 2. Partner 2 may not get on the bike until Partner 1 tags them. Partner 1 cannot tag partner 2 until they have dropped the sandbag. Partner 2 repeats all the movements.

The boxes will be stabilized with non-slip mats. If the partner who isn’t working wants to hold the boxes, they may, but they may not touch the sandbag or assist their partner over the box. Only the partner may hold the box. The sandbag must clearly go over the box, not around the side. The person must go over the box, and not around the side in any way. The sandbag carry or technique used to get over the box are athlete’s choice. Athletes may not step down onto the sandbag as they come down off the box, as a safety precaution.
