It was a Renew Crew smash!


Come on out once more on Saturday, October 18th  for the spookiest, scariest, sweatiest gym throwdown this side of 183. The Monster Mash is back for another bout, and you better get your minds right because with BOTH Becky and Tim at the helm it’s sure to be a fright fest (and full of killer kettlebells).


Check out all the deets for how this creepy comp is gonna go down:

Who?

  • Same-gender teams of two, members only

What?

  • 2 guaranteed workouts plus a floater work out
  • A costume contest, obviously
  • Another very prestigious awards ceremony
  • And more!

When?

  • 9am ‘til ~1pm

Where?

  • CrossFit Renew -- both inside and outside across both the gym and PT space

How much?

  • Just $150 bones per team and you’re in. Cost includes:
    • A very neat shirt
    • Guaranteed 3 workouts (2 WODs and a Floater)
    • Free post-WOD drinks and snacks
    • A chance to win swag, cash, and bragging rights for life
    • And more!

What else?

  • Register by Friday, October 3rd if you want a shirt and to avoid annoying your event admins, at the absolute drop-deadline is EOD October 15th.
  • Workouts will be released on October 1st. 

You heard it here first. And remember all you scaredy cats, this competition, though against other friends in the gym, is mostly for yourself. We love watching y’all challenge yourself, and each other, in positive ways that keep moving your fitness and wellness needles forward!

RX:

For Time:

  • Burpees over Bar: 2-4-6-8
  • Clean: 8-6-4-2
    • 95/135, 105/155, 135/185, 145/205

You Go, I Go per movement. Tiebreak time is when final 8 burpees are completed.

You Go, I Go per movement. Tiebreak time is when final 8 burpess are completed. 

On a 10 minute clock:

Max Weight 100m sled drag

One partner completes full distance then switch. Tie breaker is total time it takes both athletes to complete highest weight. 

Examples:

Team 1 does 100lb, 150lb, and 200lb sled drags in the 10 minutes. They finish the 200lb sled drag at the 9:32 mark. Score is 200lbs with 9:32 tiebreak time. 

Team 2 does 100lb, 150lb, and 200lb sled drags. They finish the 150lb sled drag at 6:50 mark, but fail to finish the 200lb sled drag before 10 minutes is up. Their score is 150lb with 6:50 tiebreak time. 

Team 3 attemps a 200lb sled drag. Both partners are done by 3:30 mark. They make no further attempts. Team 3 score is 200lbs with 3:30 tiebreak time. 

RX:

AMRAP 12 minutes:

  • 8 Double Dumbbell Box Step Ups (20/24")(35/50#)
  • 4 Double Dumbbell Thrusters (35/50#)

Partners alternate full rounds.

straight into

AMRAP 4 minutes:

  • Toes to Bar

Partners switch as needed.

Score is total reps across both parts. Tiebreak score is toes to bar completed.

  • 4 Double Dumbbell Thrusters (20/35#)

Partners switch as needed.

Score is total reps across both parts. Tiebreak score is sit-ups completed.

RX:

200 Double Unders

then

4 Rounds:

  • 20 Synchronized KB Swings (35/55#)
  • 10 Synchronized Hand Release Push Ups

then

200 Double Unders

split double unders as needed. 14 min cap.
