About This Competition

Welcome to the Arnold Fitness Games!

Qualifiers for this event will take place between the 21st June - 11th July, with one workout released per week.

This finals event takes place across the weekend of October 1 - 3, 2021

All workouts are programmed by JST Compete.

The Arnold Fitness Games will be held at the Arnold Sports Festival UK, at the NEC in Birmingham.

Spectator Tickets

Both Individual athletes and Teams of Four will compete throughout the course of the competition.

Each category will only compete on one day of the finals event, see dates listed below:

Friday 1st October: Scaled and Middle Ground Individuals

Saturday 2nd October: Middle Ground Masters (35+), RX Masters (35+), RX and Elite Individuals

Sunday 3rd October: Compete and Throwdown Same Sex Teams of Four, Compete and Throwdown Mixed Teams of 4

Categories for individual athletes will be:

Scaled: The ‘Scaled’ individuals category is for new and lesser experienced athletes wanting to get a taste of competing on the big stage.

Middle Ground: The ‘Middle Ground’ individuals category is for athletes who are at an intermediate level. It is suitable for athletes who can complete most workouts to an RX standard but struggle with some movements such as advanced gymnastics and heavier weights.

RX & Elite: For the more experienced athlete who is ready for the higher weights and more skilled movements. The top athletes from the qualifiers of this category will be invited to compete in the Elite division, and the next qualifying individuals will be invited to compete in the RX division.

Categories for teams will be:

Compete: The ‘Compete’ teams category is for athletes who would usually compete at the RX level. In previous BFMG events they will have competed in our Elite/RX category, or have been comfortable competing in our Middle Ground Category.

Throwdown: The ‘Throwdown’ category is for athletes who would usually compete at the Intermediate or Scaled level. In previous BFMG events they will have competed in our Scaled category, or have challenged themselves in our Middle Ground category.

Part B, athletes will have from 8 to 15 minutes to establish a

2 rep max overhead squat from the ground.

Please scroll down for scoring instructions.

The Arnold Fitness Games 2021 Qualifier 3 is for time.

RX Individuals and Compete Teams will complete 4 rounds of:

28 Wall balls

12 Power Cleans

5 Bar Muscle Ups

After all 4 rounds are complete, athletes will go directly into a row to finish the workout.

This will be:

50 Calories for males

35 calories for females.

Middleground athletes, throwdown teams and scaled athletes will complete the same workout apart from the bar muscle ups.

Instead, middleground athletes and throwdown teams will perform handstand push ups in an ascending ladder of 5, 10, 15 and 20 reps corresponding with each round, whilst scaled athletes will choose to perform either 12 toes to bar or 24 ab mat sit ups. Scaled athletes cannot switch their pre-chosen movement during the workout.

The time cap for this workout is 20 minutes.

The wall ball shot must be taken from the bottom of a squat, hip crease below the knee, and thrown to hit the specified target.

Power cleans start on the ground and must be cleaned to the front rack position in one motion with elbows clearly in front of the bar and full lock out of the knees and hips. Touch and go reps are permitted but NO BOUNCING.

The muscle up reps begin when the arms are fully extended. Kipping is acceptable but pull-overs and glide kips are not permitted. The feet cannot rise above the height of the bar during the kip.

At the top of the rep the elbows must be fully locked out, following some portion of dip, with shoulders over or in front of the bar. Pushing away before lockout is a no rep.

Other than the hands, no part of the arms can touch the bar or assist in the muscle up.

Every rep of the handstand push ups begins and ends with arms and hips and full extension and both heels touching the wall. At the bottom of the rep the head must make contact with the floor on an even surface with the hands. For example, if you are using an ab mat for your head, your hands must be on 15kg bumper plates.

Toes to bar reps begin with the arms fully extended and feet behind the bar and entire body. To end the rep both feet must come into contact with the bar at the same time inside the hands.

The hands must touch the ground above the head to start the ab mat sit up rep. The rep is complete when the athlete touches their toes.

2 reps of ab mat sit ups equal 1 rep on the scoresheet. For example, 5 reps of ab mat sit ups would count as 2 reps overall.

The monitor of the rower must be set at zero to start and the screen must be in view for the camera.
