TORTURED MASTERS
Saturday 03.06.23 - RX & SX
[One day only event]


REGISTRATION

Tickets are non-refundable.

Prior to the event, athletes will be contacted using the email address they registered with to confirm the team name and a few other important details. Once these details have been confirmed, athlete waivers will be sent which must be completed by all registered athletes – your team will be unable to compete unless this has been done.

From this point on, the spot is non-transferable.

TEAM CHECK-IN

- On arrival teams must check in at the front reception desk [Location: CrossFit Dungeon].
- Waivers MUST BE SIGNED prior to this, otherwise your team will be withdrawn from the competition.
- Provide Instagram handles if you would like to be tagged in our socials.

ATHLETE BRIEFINGS

Workout briefs (videos) will be released days before the event via social media. Workout details will be posted here as well as on Facebook and Instagram. Athletes must make sure that they understand what is required and how the events are scored.

DIVISIONS AND MOVEMENT STANDARDS

The Masters comp will be 2 divisions only: RX and SX (think, similar to what you do in the Opens!). Within each division, there will be 4 [7] defining age categories: 

35-44 [Baby Masters & Youth Masters]
45-54 [Masters & Senior Masters]
55-64 [Silver Masters & Golden Masters]
65+    [Platinum]

…. Which means, yes, if you are a 57yr old RX athlete, you will be competing against a 35 yr old RX athlete! 

BUT, what those defining age categories mean, is that you will be “scaled” to your age appropriate loading and gymnastic skill level! (ie. if the Baby Masters are Cleaning 60/45, then Masters will use 50/35, and Golden will use 40/30 etc). 

We are hoping to figure out a handicap system to allow a slight separation between the intra age gaps as well (ie. 35-39 v 40-44 etc). But if this proves to be in the too hard basket, we will stick to just the standard separations listed above.

When you register, please nominate the age of each competitor as well - if you are turning 45 this year, then you are in the 45-49 category. Please note that your category will be based off your youngest athlete (ie if you are 47 but your partner is 44 you will be in the 40-44 category, not the 45-49 category).

The movement standards are CrossFit standards. Please have a good understanding of these before the event.

8:00am - Heat 1 Starts
12:30pm - Heat 3 Finishes
1:00pm - Presentation

NOTES:

Teams will begin at the start line under the ropes. On go, one Athlete will get onto the bike and begin riding for max calories. Athletes may swap as often as they like without penalty for 2mins. The amount of calories achieved at the 2min buzzer will be recorded. They will then begin the Main AMRAP working relay style, round for round. The resting athlete may stay behind the Bench BB to help spot if needed and change the weights for the next round. Upon completion of the 7min AMRAP, athletes will return to the bike for another 2 min max effort Calories.


STANDARDS:

RX: Youth > Masters > Golden
Wall Walk Full (25cm) > Second Line (1m) > First Line (140cm)
Bench Press 60/45kg > 50/35kg > 40/25kg
Deadlift 100/70kg > 90/65kg > 70/50kg

SX: Youth > Masters > Golden
Wall Walk Second Line (1m) > First Line (140cm) > 2x Inchworm
Bench Press 45/30kg > 40/25kg > 35/20kg
Deadlift 70/50kg > 60/45kg > 50/35kg


MOVEMENT STANDARDS:

- Wall Walks: All variants must begin with the Athlete laying flat on the ground. Hands will be clearly ON or in front of the Start line and can only move once both feet have moved onto the wall. The athlete will then walk their hands past their indicated line (by division standard), and then return to the start line again. Hands must be seen to clearly touch the start line before the feet can come off the wall. Athletes using the first line, the hands must clearly pass from one side of the tape to the other side and back again. All other athletes just have any part of both hands pass their indicated line.

- Bench Press: Bar can be assisted to start position by partner, BUT to begin the lift the athlete must start with arms locked out, bar resting above chest. Bar will be lowered until both the bar touches the chest AND elbows are seen below shoulder height. The bar will then be returned to start lockout position. If the partner is seen to touch the bar in any way during the lift, it will be deemed a no lift!
