Steel Anchor Showdown
About This Competition
Are you ready to SHOWDOWN?!
This isn’t your typical weightlifting meet. The Steel Anchor Showdown is a "last lifter standing" event for both the snatch and clean & jerk that’s all about grit, strategy, and how deep you’re willing to dig.
Here’s how it works: If you make the lift, you move on. If you miss it, you’re out. When your minute starts, you can reattempt the lift as many times as needed, but you have to complete one successful attempt before the 1-minute mark for it to count. If the clock runs out and you haven’t secured the lift with FULL LOCKOUT, you’re out.
Since there are two separate lifts, you have two chances to put up your best number.
All scores will be calculated using the Sinclair formula, meaning it’s not just about how much you lift but how you stack up pound for pound. So if one lift isn’t your strong suit, you’ve got the other to make up ground.
Round One: Snatches. Once we have narrowed it down to the heaviest snatch for both males and females, we'll move on to Round Two: Clean & jerks.
Top male and female lifters each go home with some CASH thanks to our friends at Little Leaf Farms.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind to keep it easy:
- Spots are limited to 30 total lifters – That’s it. First come, first served.
-Weigh-ins will be at check-in and are required (no outside scales allowed)
- Athletes need to be checked in no later than 30 minutes before the start of the event
- Doors open at 2:00pm
-No refunds, but lifter substitutions allowed in special cases.
-Wear what you like to lift in, but keep it appropriate. Someone's parents are watching.
- Singlets are optional, not required.
- Lifters are recommended but not required. If you don't have lifters proper gym shoes are required, no running shoes please.
- Belts are allowed. Lifting straps or grips of any kind are NOT.
- No outside barbells, plates, or clips.
- Women lift with a 35lb bar, men lift with a 45lb bar.
- No dogs, and no small children —we love them, but safety comes first.
Steel Anchor Weightlifting operates out of Crossfit 1620. We have plenty of space for spectators, and a warm-up area for lifters will be available.
We also have:
-Plenty of free onsite parking.
-Water refill station available. Bring your own bottle.
-Vending snacks for purchase, or bring what you need.
This will be a high-energy, straight-up battle on the platform you don't want to miss. If you love to compete, push your limits, and test your strength, this is what the Steel Anchor Showdown is all about.
More details will drop as we get closer to the event! Don't forget spots are limited, so REGISTER NOW!!
