RISE Up and Move
About This Competition
RISE’s mission is to give females a platform to express how they’ve exhibited resiliency, identity, strength, and empowerment in their own lives, and to create avenues to help other women do the same. It allows women of all ages to develop and connect to a support system that elevates the entire female community! Additionally, this annual event will help RISE support a different woman or woman’s cause. This year we will be working with Evelynn Barker.
This beautiful girl was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome recently and will have a lifetime of medical needs ahead of her, including a major surgery this summer to remove her overaries. If you looked up the phrase "small, but mighty", you might just find a picture of Evelynn! For those of you who have met E, you know she is full of energy, always has a smile on her face and loves to talk with you. She is a big sister to Bryant and the wonderful daughter of Brandon Barker and Amanda Barker. Evelynn will climb, jump, and do anything gymnastics with you, as well as sit down to color a picture or watch a princess or Marvel movie. Please consider donating to Evelynn's medical needs, join The Rise Up and MOVE event, and sending her family good thoughts and prayers as they traverse this journey together. Thank you!

RISE Up and Move is a way to use the fun of fitness with friends to come together as a community and support RISE. Get your team together and row, ski, bike, or run with us for an hour. Split it up any way you want and do it where you want to: your local CrossFIt box, gym, or home! Here is the reason behind the numbers for this event:
Date: June 24th
Time: 8 – 9am (1 Hour = Evelynn is 1 in 200,000 cases)
Goal: 55 "machines" working at the same time for that hour
**200,000 cases a year (200,000 seconds = 55 hours)
***Our goal is 55 machines working at the same time. You can row, bike, skierg, or run. The more the merrier! There is no limit on the number of teams for this great event!***
Not interested in participating in the event but want to donate directly to Evelynn, that's okay! Below is a GoFundMe link for you to do so!
ABOUT Turners Syndrome
Turner Syndrome is a random chromosomal disorder affecting only women and over two million of them. It should be detected during a girl’s first few years of life, if not at birth, for the best possible outcomes. A variety of signs, including short stature and frequent ear infections, should automatically signal the need for diagnostic testing to rule out the disorder or initiate medical treatment, which is especially effective if started early. These signs are often missed, however, even though the Syndrome is neither rare nor difficult to suspect. The Syndrome could trigger numerous physical, cognitive, emotional and social complications; most common health problems involve kidneys, heart, thyroid, diabetes, hearing, osteoporosis, infertility, serious pregnancy complications (for those undergoing in-vitro fertilization), and weaknesses in visuo-spatial and executive function abilities. Early intervention has been proven to produce long-term positive outcomes.
