Met-con for Mental Health
About This Competition
Year 2 of the Met-con for mental health sees the competition grow and move to the lakes!!
We are keeping it same sex pairs but moving to a 2 day format with an RX division on saturday and an elite division on sunday.
We are bringing you everything you can expect from a fitness racing competition, Barbells, Dumbbells, Gymnastics, Concept2's but with some extras thrown in to keep it different to any comp your used to with some amazing views and even a bar onsite for post wod refreshments 🍻🍷 🎉
It's been a challenging year for everyone with the covid-19 pandemic, gym business's and keen gym goers especially so we wanted to give you something to look forward to this year! The comp will be ran outdoors with social distancing rules observed. we have contingency plans in place for weather and changes in the government guidance for gatherings and sporting events.so grab your partner and start training!! 💪 💪
Now for the boring but important parts so dont skip this.
Athlete registration & Briefing: Registration will open on the day a few hours prior to the first whistle (time TBC) and the briefing and demos will be done minimum 1 hour prior to kick off to allow warm ups for heat 1, at least 1 athlete but preferably both will need to be at the briefing and demo as time wont allow for further briefing and demos by your judge on the floor leading up to the start time.
Substitutes: We are flexible, we will adapt and move forward to help you and your partner make the most of the day! you can change on the day if needed due to injury/emergency, this comp is about supporting each other and having fun that said please dont swap for a competitive edge.
Refunds: Part of the money raised after costs are met will go to charity, this was the reason we started this comp and will always be the main reason behind it. therefore no refunds will be given if you just decide you dont want to compete or last minute cant make it. if circumstances arise and you cant make it you can transfer your place to another pair, or contact us directly and we can help in getting replacements. Obviously if we have to cancel for any reason full refunds will be given, but we are confident that will not be the case.
Postponement: In the event we have to postpone your entry will be transferred to the new date but if you cant make it we will offer a full refund.
Clothing & Equipment: The site for this years event is at Cockermouth RUFC, it offers a huge playing surface for us to get creative with programming and a large all weather surface for going hard and heavy!! That said you may get wet and dirty so a few changes of clothing, towel, warm clothes for between wods and sspare trainers is essential. Government guidelines dependant we could have indoor changing facilities and showers available but at this stage we cant guarantee this. you are welcome to bring your own gazebos/event shelters and set up for the day we will mark out space for this on a first come first serve basis. Equipment needed will be your usual go to's, (Knee sleeves, lifting belt, wrist straps, Skipping rope etc) any equipment for the wod we will provide.
Spectators: As it stands we would not be allowing more than 2 spectators per pair as gatherings are not allowed so spectator space would be at a premium. That said as government guidelines allow we will open up to more, spectator tickets will be free (we dont like the idea of charging people to come and support athletes compete) however we will have charity buckets out and ask for a donation to our charity however small or large you can afford (suggested £5-£10)
Parking: parking on site will be free and marshal controlled, please do not park on the surrounding housing estates or on the hill up to the club traffic can get pretty tight on busy days.
On site rules: Firstly we love dogs but unfortunately as it is an active rugby & sports facility we have to ask that you leave the dogs at home, we know 99% of you would be responsible dogs owners but the 1% let us down fouling on pitches. as mentioned there will be a bar onsite so please dont bring your own alcohol on site and if you purchase any please dont take it onto the dancefloor! food and refreshments for athletes is fair game bring what you need for the day, youll need the energy!
