About This Competition

Welcome to Mayhem Everyday Hero Games 2024!


The 2024 Mayhem Athlete Everyday Hero Games is an online competition to honor the men and women who have taken an oath to protect, defend, and educate their country, state or city at all costs; those who have dedicated their lives to educating the next generation for a better future, and the medical professionals who are on the front lines of our hospitals, clinics, and doctors offices.

In an effort to constantly improve, and after the overwhelming participation last year, we are expanding the 2024 Everyday Hero Games to a two-part competition.

PART ONE

An online competition from May 1-6. The top male and female athlete from the Chief (or RX) division from each Hero category will be invited to advance to the Part Two portion of the competition.

PART TWO

An in-person, one-day team competition at CrossFit Mayhem in Cookeville, Tennessee, where we will name the Fittest Everyday Hero on Saturday, June 22. The Top 2 athletes will compete as a team representing their respective division.

The workouts will be released on Wednesday, May 1st at 2pm CST. All Scores must be logged on Strongest by Monday, May 6th at 11:59:59 PM CST.

Protector Chief (Fire)

For Time:
2 rounds
500m row
25 burpees over rower 

  • Scored by Time

  • Rower handle must remain racked until “3, 2, 1…GO”

  • Athletes cannot stand up from the rower until 500m is displayed on the monitor each round

  • Reset monitor each round. Athlete may receive assistance with resetting monitor

  • Both feet must leave the ground as the majority of the athlete's body passes over the rower. Two-foot takeoff and landing is not required.

  • When performing burpees, athletes must face away from the monitor. This is done to prevent athletes from jumping around the rear of the rower.

Protector Officer (Fire)

For Time:

  • Scored by Time

Defender Chief (Police)

For Reps:
AMRAP 10 Minutes
2 Clean and Jerks ascending in weight (185/125lbs)* (83/56kg)
10 Box Jump Overs (24/20)
*Athletes will increase the barbell weight by 10lbs (5kg) (total) every round

  • Scored by Reps

  • Barbell weight begins at 185/125. Each time the athlete returns to the bar, 10lbs (total is added to the bar). Athletes may receive assistance with loading their bar.

  • Power Cleans or Squat Cleans are allowed.

  • Athletes may choose to get the barbell overhead in any fashion, but must finish with feet inline and knees, hips and arms fully locked out with the barbell directly over the body. 

  • Athletes do not have to show full extension on top of the box. Athletes can jump on top of the box and down to the other side or clear the box. If jumping on top, both feet must make contact with the top of the box.

  • Step-ups/Step overs are not allowed. Athletes are allowed to step-down from the box.

Defender Officer (Police)

For Reps:
AMRAP 10 Minutes
2 Clean and Jerks ascending in weight (135/85lb)* (61/38kg)
10 Box Step Overs (24/20)
*Athletes will increase the barbell weight by 10lbs (total) every round

  • Scored by Reps

  • Barbell weight begins at 135/85. Each time the athlete returns to the bar, 10lbs (total is added to the bar). Athletes may receive assistance with loading their bar.

  • Power Cleans or Squat Cleans are allowed. 

  • Athletes may choose to get the barbell overhead in any fashion, but must finish with feet inline and knees, hips and arms fully locked out with the barbell directly over the body. 

  • Athletes do not have to show full extension on top of the box. Athletes must step up and make contact with both feet on the top of the box before stepping down on the other side.

Teacher Chief (Educators)

For Reps:
3 minutes to complete (graduating time cap)
2 Rounds

50ft Dumbbell Lunge (2-50/2-35lbs)
 (2-22.5/2-15kg)
10 Bench Press (135/95lbs) (61/43kg)

*Bench press reps will increase by 2 reps every 2 rounds
**Time extends by 3:00 minutes for every 2 rounds that are completed. Athletes are not required to rest until the next 3:00 minute period and can immediately begin the next 2 round section.

  • Scored by reps

  • Dumbbells can be held in any fashion (i.e. farmer carry, on shoulders, overhead). No grip standard but a hand must remain in contact with each dumbbell at all times. Dumbbells cannot be propped on working leg if utilizing farmer carry.

  • Every 5 feet on lunge are counted as a rep (10 possible reps total)

  • Athletes have 3:00 minutes to complete two rounds. If an athlete finishes before the 3:00 min cap, they can immediately begin the next 2 round section and their time cap increases by an additional 3:00 minutes. Once the athlete fails to complete the required work under their time cap, they have finished the workout.

  • Bench press reps increase by 2 reps for every two rounds the athlete completes:

    • 1st 2 rounds: 10 Bench Press

    • 2nd 2 rounds: 12 Bench Press

    • 3rd 2 rounds: 14 Bench Press

    • Etc…
