NOTE: Five spots in each of the 14-17 divisions will be for INVITES to the ten 2022 CrossFit Games athletes in each division. Those athletes will have from June 1-June 9 to register for the 2022 Elite Teen Throwdown by accepting their registration and paying the registration fee. Any spots left open will be filled by our OLQ athletes competing June 10-July 10.
OLQ Workouts
ALL FIVE of the OLQ workouts will be released by Friday, June 10. Athletes may complete them in any order and as many times as you like, submitting all scores by 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, July 10. (That means you have **30 days** to complete the workouts and anything else we might throw your way.)
Athletes who expect to qualify for The Pit should video each workout using WodProof. (We'll give you all the standards.) Videos are not due at time of submission but will be requested and reviewed by staff. It is highly recommended but not required you use a judge who has completed CrossFit's judges' course.
***So since "rookie" officially means "first year," we have changed the names to JUNIOR VARSITY and then VARISTY for the elite. Which one are you? It's not 100% science, but here are some guidelines:
- Elite in 2020 or 2021: VARSITY
- CrossFit Games® , Wodapalooza, Granite Games, TFX athlete, etc. athletes: VARSITY
- Top 100* finish in the 2022 CrossFit® Open: VARSITY
- Did not make top 10% in the 2022 CrossFit® Open: JUNIOR VARSITY
- Never competed before EVER: JUNIOR VARSITY
- *Some in this group *could* opt for JV. That's just a guidelines. See next few sentences.
The biggest "gray area" is made up of those athletes who ...
- Competed as rookies in 2021 yet remain RX but not "elite" levels in their movements/scores. If you need another year or three in this essentially "intermediate" division, great. That's most CrossFit® athletes in general, by the way. Go JV.
- Finished 100 or lower in the CrossFit® Open based on performance (not due to injury or other factors). There are only 20 spots in the elite. Could one be yours? Yes. Or not.
For you "gray area" athletes, you'll have to decide.
Consider:
- The JV divisions will include all RX movements. This is not an "easy" or a scaled division.
- The varsity/elite divisons will include programming similar to other elite programming, meaning in volume, weight, intensity and variability.
Varisty divisons will continue to see elite movements - ONLY FOR EXAMPLE: legless rope climbs, peg boards, RMUs, HSWs, strict gymnastics moves, longer, grittier metcons, weight vests, swimming, etc.
If you're on the fence, talk to your coaches and decide. Right up until June 10, you may change your division by contacting us.
